Step 4 - Customize Your Blog Visually - Basic

Changing Your Blog Appearance


Theme: ↠ Get <Theme> from the Dashboard Panel
  • Full Web & Mobile - view
  • Changing Template
    • Scroll down ↡ to test other Templates
    • For this class - change only inside the "Simple" variation 
    • Test view other Template  - just click one
    • Move between templates with right down arrows 
    • <Apply to Blog> to modify you current template
    • Close this screen [X] top right
  • Customize Theme
    • <Customize>
  • Change Background
  • Select Template Layouts
  • Advance Settings
Layout  ↠ Get <Layout> from the Dashboard Panel
  • Favicon - is the small graphic show in the Browser Tab next to the name of the Blog, It must be less than 100kb.
  • Navbar - Just turn it off
  • Header - tools to modify the Blog Title. 
  • Template show destination places to + Add Gadget


Step 3 - Customize your Post Design

Work-space View

The ideal browser work-space view is to keep open 2 blogger tabs to work only:

  • Google Dashboard
  • View Blog
Note: Save your changes whenever you feel necessary and review them from "View Blog Tab" just doing <refresh>
Creating New Post
  1. Open your Dashboard
  2. <New Post> Write
  3. <Save> when ready <Preview> <Publish>
Customizing your Post
  1. Compose: is the "what you see what you get" interface
  2. Html: is use when we want or require to modify/add any coding
  3. ↶↷ : to undo or re-do actions
  4. FπŸ”½ : to select the font we want to use
  5. TπŸ”½ : to change the size of  the text
  6. Normal πŸ”½: to change pre-formatted font parameters
  7. B : make fonts darker (bold)
  8. I : make fonts italic
  9. U : underline words
  10. ABC : scratch text
  11. AπŸ”½: change fonts color
  12. Highlighter πŸ”½: allow to highlight text in different colors
  13. Link: allow to transform any text, graphic or picture in a link to in/out resources
  14. Picture: allow to add pictures 
  15. : allow to add/remove videos
  16. 🌝: provide a long list of symbols and icons
  17. Jump break page: it cut the length of an post to create 1 extended portions
  18. Alignment: allow to align text
  19. Number list
  20. Bullet list
  21. Quote: set text in quote position 
  22. Tx: remove any format apply to text
  23. ABC: do spell check
Post Settings
  • Label: this is use to add a single word or a longer phrase to help identify or query what your post is about. This label appear underneath the post title. Readers who click on one of the labels are redirected to a page where all of your previously published posts labeled with the same word or phrase are listed.
  • Schedule: this feature allow automatically assign the post's date or manually. This is excellent to write many posts one day however post them later in the future or just to reuse one older.
  • Permalink: it shows the URL link created for your post.
  • Location: this feature is used to set your current location and provide map address to your post. This can be useful for travel bloggers or people who wants to share their location with friends and family.
  • Options: this give access to Html and line breaks features.
TASKS
1-Adjusting the Post Width Space to X-large Picture Sizes
  1. Previous this task have your images Save & Collect in one default location
  2. Create a <New Post> and Add the Post title
  3. Add your <Picture> however use <X-Large> as desire size
  4. Optional: write any information as your wish after the image
  5. <save> <preview> <publish>
  6. ↻ Refresh the View Blog Tab
  7. Go to "Dashboard Tab" click <Theme> <Customize>
  8. <Adjust widths> move the locator under "Entire blog" as your wish. Try to keep balance between the side borders of the picture
  9. <Apply to Blog> <Back to Blogger>
  10. ↻ Refresh the View Blog Tab
2-Add a Video & an Image
  1. Previous this task have your video identify and URL located ready 
    • Copy the You Tube URL from the browser
  2. Open your Welcome Page in the Dashboard <Edit>
  3. Position the cursor where is the destiny of the video
  4. Select <Black square video icon> <From You Tube>
  5. Paste the You Tube URL 
  6. Click the <Search> button  and Click over the video <Select>
  7. optional to add the TV stand (Pictures)

Set the template

  1. Login to blogger.com (gmail account)
  2. Your blogs πŸ”½New Blog...      ⇔
  3. Address _test your domain name
  4.  Title _write blog title
  5. Select Theme*
  6. <Create blog!>
  7. Google Domains ↠ <No Thanks>
  8. <New Post> ↠ Write your first article
  9. <Save> and <Publish>
  10. <View Blog>
              See  first Blog View sample

  1. Define Purpose
    • Why am I creating this blog?                         Situation  ↠  Intention
    • What do I want this blog to do?                     Offering  ↠  Purpose
    • Who is my Target Audience                           Age/Sex  ↠  Market
  2. Name
    • Select possible Domain Name (2)
    • Use the following criteria to generate your blog name
      • It is better if your blog address y you blog name is the same
      • Make it simple, shorter and memorable 
      • It should provide an idea what is your blog about
  3. Sections or Pages
    • Identify how many sections you may need & their labels or titles
